A Second Chance for Abandoned Animals

The 23rd of August 2014 was no ordinary Saturday for a group of animal-loving BASS employees, as they spent a meaningful day at Cherish Life Home, a privately-funded Animal Shelter in Hulu Langat, a place where many stray cats and dogs call home. This ‘no kill’ Animal Shelter is owned by Madam Lau Choy Sze, or more affectionately known as Auntie Winnie,  who indiscriminately takes in abandoned and injured strays, and lovingly cares for them until they are healthy for adoption and ready to start a new life.

Our OPS Community Team was gratified to visit the shelter and lend a hand around the place, all while being in the company of many adorable furry friends. The OPS Community Team was also successful in raising RM7,000 for the shelter – thanks to generous donations from  BASS Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of BASS Software Ltd located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), employees of BASS, and their family and friends – which we hope will help Cherish Life Home in its day-to-day operations of providing medical and food supplies to the animals.

We applaud Auntie Winnie for putting her heart and soul into running the Animal Shelter, and for harbouring so much love and care for animals. Our day spent at Cherish Life Home was a fulfilling one and we hope that our presence there gave the animals just as much joy as they gave us.

“Love of animals is a universal impulse, a common ground on which all of us may meet. By loving and understanding animals, perhaps we humans shall come to understand each other.” – Louis J. Camuti
